Clove

Its homeland is Indonesia and it is used as a spice in all world cuisines. Its name comes from the French clou (nail); because the buds resemble large and small nails. The spice obtained from the flower buds of the clove tree is woody, black in color and fragrant. It has a bitter and sour taste. It is widely used in cooking in India. In Europe, it is mostly used to add flavor to pickles and jams, and sometimes in desserts.
