Sumac

The fruit of the sumac plant is spherical in shape, reddish, and has a sour taste. After being dried by appropriate methods, it is mixed with table salt and ground to obtain "sumac", which is used as a spice. It is among the most used spices in Turkish cuisine. It is especially preferred in onion salads because it gives a sour taste to salads and dishes and reduces odor. It can grow everywhere in Turkey except the Eastern Anatolia Region.
